last February, I was invited to participate in a TEDx event sponsored by a student group at Los Gatos High School, where I teach English. The experience of writing, editing, memorizing, and delivering the talk was the capstone for the year I came out as transgender. I was so happy when I learned my talk had made it to TED’s main site.
This talk allowed me to create the story of my journey, to put some of the pieces of my experience together in a new way, to come to a more complete understanding of the truth of my transition and the many gifts it brings.
